Dearly beloved in
Christ, Greetings to you
all in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! "Four things
on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise: Ants are
creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;
coneys are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags;
locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks; a lizard can be
caught with the hand, yet it is found in king's palaces " (Proverbs 30 :
24 - 28) Once again we are
on the threshold of another summer which will awaken splendid memories in our
life. We always associate Easter with summer. Both Easter and summer bring
hope, beauty and resurgence of life, but at the same time summer indicates
that the monsoon is yet to come. In the above
Bible portion, the small creatures are acting exceedingly wise in all
situations. But we people, being the crown of God's creation, have much more
responsibility to understand and discern the ways of God. One
summer day, a grasshopper was singing, chirping and hopping around. He was
having a wonderful time. He saw an ant who was busy
gathering and storing grains for the winter. "Stop and talk to me,"
said the grasshopper. We can sing some songs and dance awhile".
"Oh! no," said the ant. "Winter is
coming. I am storing up food for the winter. I think you should do the
same." "Oh! I can't be bothered," said the grasshopper.
"Winter is a long time off. There is plenty of food." So the
grasshopper continued to dance and sing and chirp and the ant continued to
work. When winter came, the grasshopper had no food and was starving. He went
to the ant's house and asked, "Can I have some wheat? Or maybe a few
kernels of corn? Without it I will starve". "You danced last
summer," said the ant in disgust." You can continue to dance."
And he gave the grasshopper no food. |

This
little story reminds us to discern the time and act accordingly. The severe
summer that has affected Kerala this year warns us to work together for the
preservation of nature and its resources. As God created the earth for future
generations also, we should not exploit the earth. I urge all of you to
moderate the consumption of water as scarcity of water is
a problem that we are going to face in the coming days. The
fifty day lent prayer is going on. I praise God for all who are prayerfully
attending the service regularly, but I urge the others also to participate in
the service for at least some days. I congratulate the Sunday School students
in their achievement of winning 18 Birudu prizes. I
thank the former headmaster Sri. John C Cherian, the present headmaster Sri.
John Varghese and all the teachers for taking the pain and effort to achieve
this goal. As we
are coming to the close of this financial year, I request you to kindly pay
all the pending dues, if any. The office bearers of the last year were very
efficient, hardworking and meticulous in carrying out their duties. We had a
good time working together. I appreciate their dedication and commitment. The new
office bearers are about to take charge. May the Grace of God help them to
work hard, so as to empower our church spiritually and financially.
I wish them all the best. Wishing
a Happy Easter to all of you Yours in
Christ’s ministry Jackson Achen |
